ABOUT SFORZANDO LEOS
And All That Jazz
We make our home in the country in central North Carolina where we both teach in the public schools. Mr. Townsend coaches secondary public school teachers and band students work with Mrs. Townsend. While engaged and in college, we discovered Leonbergers, a rare breed at the time. We instantly fell in love with these fantastic dogs.
Our first Leo, "Osa", jump-started our passion for Leonberger conformation and showing. Since taking a Leonberger puppy into our home in 1999, we have become involved in all aspects of dog ownership, conformation, and breeding. We feel strongly about our commitment to the Leonberger breed and consistently participate in the national and regional clubs as well as take an active role in our local dog community. Our love of Leonbergers and our involvement in the breed has made several lifetime friendships!
The foundation for our current line of Leonbergers is LCA CH Nika von Alpensee. She was acquired from a frozen semen breeding from Int. Multi Ch. Multi BISS Leonitan Washable Lion and produced GCH CH Brubeck's Take 5 di Sforzando - the #1 Leonberger in 2009. Brubeck's daughters, Fio & Trac, have produced the next generation at our kennel and we can't wait to see what Mezzo, Basie, and Jammie will produce in the latest generation.
If you're active in Leonbergers and our names ring a bell, it's probably from one of these roles:
Chairs for the 2007 Leonberger National Specialty i
President and Secretary of the Mid-Atlantic Leonberger Club
AKC Conformation Judge
President and Secretary of the Tarheel Leonberger Club
Directors/Officers, Alamance Kennel Club
Members, Carolina Working Group Association
Steward, Southeastern Stewards Association
Vice President and Treasurer of the Southeast Leonberger Club
Breeding Committee Chair for the BACL
Southeast Regional Representatives for Leonberger Rescue
Leonberger Club of America Stud Book Coordinator
And we feel like we're just getting started! If you have questions or would like to know more about living with and caring for Leonbergers or any other issues, please feel free check out the website or email us.
