Our Leonbergers

Pictured above, from left to right, is Rusty, Ika, Osa, Bigger, and Gia. Rusty is a fantastic rescue we fostered for a long time. Osa, our senior resident, is our first Leonberger from South Carolina. Bigger, from our "A" litter, is a wonderful big boy that visited often and will be deeply missed. Gia, a gentle lover, passed away in October of last year. Ika, a Jersey girl, is the new matron and makes sure all is peaceful.

"Ika" was born on August 8th, 2004. She was from an international frozen semen breeding by Alida Greendyk in New Jersey. Ika is a sweet active Leo with tons of personality! She has as much success as fun in the show ring and in obedience class. Ika comes from a wonderful background of champions. She gave birth to our "B" litter in March of 2008, delivered our "C" Litter in June of 2009, and produced her final "D" litter in 2011. You can see archived news at our C Litter Blog.

"Bru" was born on March 12th, 2008. She has a lively, fun temperament and a real spirit for the show ring. At seven months, she took Best of Winners at a Mid-Atlantic Leonberger Specialty. At twelve months, she took the whole show! At the young age of thirteen months, she wowed the crowds at the LCA National Specialty. She has even beaten her mother in the show ring a few times! She produced a singleton for our "E" litter that has joined the family - Trac. We have big plans for our Bru!

"Cope" was born on June 12th, 2009 and already has some big wins under his belt! His father is a handsome fella from Maine and his mother is our very own Ika. Cope is a sweet, laid back Leo with a confident and playful demeanor. We love watching him grow up. "Trac" Sforzando's Ent'racte Virtuoso

"Trac" was delivered by C-Section on May 26th, 2011 - the only puppy in her litter. BUT WHAT A PUPPY! Her father was the first von Alpensee Leonberger to earn an AKC Championship and her grandfather on both sides of the pedigree is one of the nicest male Leonbergers we have ever known. She has some "big paws" to fill and we think she is showing great promise out of the gate - even earning the nickname "Trac Star".

Gia was born on April 19th, 2000. She was an extremely loving and intelligent Leonberger with a passion for people, especially children. She made a strong impression on everyone that was lucky enough to have met her. We were lucky to have her in our lives for eight and a half years. She will be forever missed.

"Osa" Fredrica von Jagen

The matriarch of our Leo family, Osa, was born on September 16th 1999, right in the middle of hurricane Floyd. She was bred by Susan Grosslight, near Colombia South Carolina. Osa is our very first Leo was a joy from the time she was a tiny Leonberger puppy! She loved the dog park, walks in the woods, and, most of all, food! Apart from being a natural at shows, Osa also earned both her CGC and Delta Society Therapy Dog title. We could not have asked for a better Leo.
